About Us:

Together, John and Vivien Pender work as an effective team with a very wide range of skills and talents.

John Pender has had a busy and successful career first in retailing then in the public sector. From a professional background in purchasing and logistics, he went on to manage large IT departments and networks and ended up running a series of regional and national projects for the NHS. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, and a Prince 2 Practitioner (in Project Management).
Working for himself since 2002, he has created a number of successful websites for small businesses, managed small projects, carried out business research in the travel and tourism industry, and resolved various technical and commercial problems for clients. Most of his work is done in the West Country, but he also has clients in France, Germany and Spain. He speaks good French and reasonable Spanish. Until the end of 2008 he has been involved in Vivien's busy B&B in Bath, and so has recent in-depth management and marketing experience in that field.

Vivien Pender has recently closed the doors on her very successful and long-standing B&B business and now works with John in Pender Practical Consultancy. She has had a portfolio of careers in a variety of fields, based on her people skills. She started off in recruitment (Manpower plc, Joyce Guiness Bureau, and the NHS), then moved on to property (as a Consultant for Dow Sheppard Relocation, and Orientation Manager for Middleton Greenwood). On the creative side she has worked in antiques and fashion. She set up Vivien Pender Designs (original headgear for special occasions), has created and/or developed new business ideas and has served on various fundraising committees. She writes and conducts research for businesses.
